Former Congressman Dave Obey is An Octogenarian.

GARYTALK.COM – David Obey celebrated his 80th birthday October 3rd, 2018. For those of you who may not remember Dave, he was a United States Congressman, representing the Wisconsin 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 1969 to 2011. Obey (OH-Bee) was preceded by Melvin Laird, who resigned to take on the responsibility of Secretary of Defense in the Nixon administration. Prior to becoming a Congressman, Obey was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1963 and served there until 1969 when Laird took on the Secretary of Defense job. Obey’s work ethic and political ideals impressed me enough to influence my decision to try the political arena, myself, for a brief time.

GARYTALK.COM – Most true Journalists are NOT “the enemy of the people” and do NOT produce and publish “fake news” for their readers and viewers to consume, as the 45th United States President, Donald J. Trump, attempts to mislead his followers to believe. Coming from a career of gathering and reporting news as a Journalist for several decades, now that I’m semi-retired, I can’t resist weighing in on what’s been happening recently. President Trump is constantly confusing the issue, and, possibly purposely, or inadvertently, causing extreme harm to the American democracy, in many ways, but to narrow this down a bit, this is about his claims of “fake news”. Calling it that is far from the truth.

GARYTALK.COM (11/04/2016) – It seems, the closer we get to the day the Presidential Election takes place, the campaign messages from candidates, PACs, and candidate surrogates become even greater bags of wind, so to speak. The Innuendo, Untruths, Fantasies and Wishful Thinking become even less easier to take. It seems, sometimes, that the plan reflects the idea that the truth really is not important when it comes to convincing voters to place their mark after your name on ballots.
